So, over the years, my 15 year old family league had to get canceled due to various health concerns with parents and what not. I was in a league for my wife's dental office for years, and she is a few years removed, so I am down to just one major fantasy league for football....
Now, this is only going to work if we get a minimum of about 10 people in the league. 8 team leagues are a bit wild because the rosters are just stacked....
So, at any rate, if you would be interested in a FFB league here, please chime in and say "I am down" or whatever. If we can get up to 8-10 people, I can create a league and we can discuss in the future if there will be any money involved or maybe a prize, or a toilet trophy. At any rate, let me know...
I am in... So we have 1 =)
I played FFB a few times in the past, but it's been probably 11-12 years or so since I last played. It's a lot to keep up with, especially when you're the commish. Not sure I will play again, but who knows. Good luck with your season, it's always interesting to see who stays healthy or who doesn't. There's always one or two big injuries right out of the gates lol, and those really hurt whoever drafted them.
So, I had my draft last night. I think it went well. It's a 12 team PPR league with two Flex WR/RB/TE spots. So, it's a DEEP league... I stood my ground this year and didn't jump on a QB early, even though Josh Allen went in the first round, second pick over all and Lamar went in the second.... It's hard to see my exact
Rounds/Picks ( I was 11th over all out of 12, in a snake league, so although I had to wait, I had a nice almost double pick situation on each end. Here we go:
1: Justin Jefferson, WR (Not a fan of his QB situation, but at #11, I had to take him at that value)
2: Saquon Barkley, RB
3: Josh Jacobs, RB (I fucked this one up. Because 30 minutes after I drafted him, they announced that he is now on the "exempt" list for being charged with a domestic violence charge in May. I literally got the text 30 minutes after this pick, so hopefully he gets that sorted out, otherwise, that is a FUCKED up 3rd round pick)
4: Zay Flowers, WR (There were 3 other players at this spot, but we are talking about around pick #40, and Zay was ranked like #41 overall, so I went for a Raven, and a #1 WR.
5: Sam La Porta, TE (Detroit is going to be good again, and La Porta is a big part of that offense)
6: DJ Moore, WR (Buffalo's #1, and with Allen, I think that was a killer pick around #65)
7: Chubba Hubbard, RB
8: Caleb Williams (At this point, 9 other QBs were already gone, so this was going to be the last opportunity to grab a QB before it went down to the Block Purdy's and the Bryce Young's of the world), so I am super happy with a modile QB and a big arm at the end of the 8th round.
9: Michael Pittman, WR (Rodger's #1 target in Pittsburgh. Great value at this position)
10: Jacory Croskey, RB (Washington's #1 RB, a steal at #130)
11: Cam Little, K (Jacksonville. Decent weather. Should get in the red zone a lot this year, and most teams had grabbed a kicker already. The Dallas kicker went in like the 4th round or some shit... Crazy.
12: Raven D... Most D's were already gone, and altough I tend to add and drop defenses week to week, based on opponents: I.E. Whoever plays Miami this week, I am picking up their defense. Or whomever is playing Cleveland, or Arizona. So at that Value, I see Baltimore as a top 5-7 defense this year, so I am cool with that in the 1th round at like #150.
13: Zach Charbonnet, RB (Coming off injury. Will likely miss 4 weeks, but he is a potential #1 pick and was HUGE in their superbowl run last year. So this was a value, wait and see pick, and he should hit IR soon, so I will be able to position him into an unused IR slot.
14: Travis Hunter, WR/DB. Who knows how much DB or WR he will play this year, but if he ends up heavy on the offensive side, I could see him getting a lot of targets when he is on the field. If he sticks to mostly DB, he will eventually get dropped. But in the 14th round, that is what you get.... Maybe something. Maybe nothing.
15: Daniel Jones: So, at this point, it was Jones, Mendoza and a few other no-names, so this is a straight value pick. I will need one bye week cover anyway if Williams stays healthy, but if Jones comes back like he was playing last year, he could be a top 10 QB. So, I will sit on him, play him if there is injury or bye week, but this pick was based on how deep this league is, and how if there are ANY injuries of ANY kind, there are NO QBs left. So, if someone's #1 goes down, Danny Dimes could be a gold mine of value if someone needs him....
All in all, I think the overall rankings gave me the #2 slot after the draft. I assume that is what the "ranking" are, once the draft is complete. It spit me out at #2. That may or may not have factored in the Jones situation....
Anyway, I am good with the draft. I only have Zay and the Ravens D. I tend to lean towards my own players if they are within a few rankings of my next pick, but I made a point this year not to pick with my heart AT ALL. I simply went with Zay Flowers, because at that pick, he was the only predominant #1 receiver left on the board, and regardless of what you think of Zay, he had the 5th most targets in the league last year, and he is Lamar's #1 option. So I see a lot of production out of him, especially in a PPR league, where Zay gets a lot of work in the slot and on short routs and quick slants. He is a 6 yards catch and YAC guy through and through.....
