Well IBC, since Mitch isn't here to show us the way, I ran a GFS model to see what this thing is doing. I see the weather and wind down your way is already wild. And it's looking like a low pressure system might swing across the panhandle, over the Carolinas this weekend and then strengthen up through the mi-atlantic and NE. Gulf, SE and NE may have potential swell impacts.
It cleaned up sooner that day down the beach in Surfside. We snuck up to 8, 9sec for a coupla days. Les Freese of course got the footage.
Those waves look fun as hell. Lots of shortboarders out there. Looked like most of them are on twinnies of some sort.
I am going to test embedding youtube video links here. If this doesn't work, I am sure I can find a youtube widget to install on here so when you post a youtube link, it will show up cleaner in the forum.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wOjMMLjvCmI?si=lz5F3uDTWbh15_bf" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Okay, if you reload the page above, now your youtube links are embedded the correct way. Disregard the IFRAME code above.
If there are any other video sources in the future, I can add code, but I think Youtube is the current standard for video posts.
Les Freese has been postin surf vids since I don't even know when. Maybe 15+ yrs. I think he actually lives in Clute, inland by Lake Jackson. Some of the Coyote vids drop subtle Clute jokes. Surfside is where he shoots footage. He's definitely a local. Camera wise, THE local. 😎🤙
Does he do the music too? That was a cool vibe, and he was definitely talking about surfing in Texas, so I assume he is from your hood.
He's only recently expanded into new areas. The coyote animations and also the songs. I honestly don't know how he does the songs. I know I keep sayin it, but there's an insane level of musicality there. I wonder how much of that band is him. Does he sing, is he really some professional like Blake Shelton, is he some CGI dude from Lucas Films, and on... The songs don't just wale, they're written for THAT DAY. You also gotta listen several times to pick up the sneaky details. Haha
Entertainment on a whole nother level.
If I had to guess, it's probably him writing little song loops of sound, then writing the lyrics and having some AI bot sing it. I do a lot of "voice overs" for promotional videos and social media stuff at work. We have our own little private TV channel too, so each month, we make about a 30 minute promo video using a professional videographer. But, when I am doing voiceovers, especially since I am in some of the content, being filmed and talking, having my voice all over everything doesn't flow well. So I have access to a couple of websites where I just type in the content, then choose one of like 100 different voices, then it reads it all for me in that voice. It will sing it too.... You can select "Black man from texas" or "feminine man from Manhattan" haha, and so on. Anything you can think of. "Surfer from Texas" and all that.
So, maybe that is what he is doing. Starts with a simple melody, types up some lyrics and some robot spits it out....
There are actually AI sites that do just music. You can have an entire album produced in like 30 minutes and it does it all for you. Scary.
Different subject... Maybe the 2nd best thing that happened lately...
I told ya I met 2 local kids a ways back at my spot. Got a few shots with em sharin a wave. Showed later the one black dude with the big Picnic twin fin. Ends up them 2 are tight, even did a local surf movie.
Well, Fox Weather Beach House hit G-Town. Guess who ends up helpin Bayne become a charger? The other dude. Benjamin.
I wanted to watch live, knew she was here, etc. I was out myself tryna score before it died. Come home, turn on the TV, and... That dude looks familiar. Haha
So, this was fun.
She popped up and caught a few later. That was a fun day.
I didn't see much about the other motorized board. She did score a few on the regular one.
Dude, we've probably had some kinda surf every day in June. The only days I skipped are for rest after 3 consecutive days of 2 hour adventures in the currents and suds. And, I skipped the day Gnarthur went over us. I plan to go frolic later. Nice to be in trunks and a top now. 😎🤙
Yeah man, water temps are around 85 here now. Bathwater. It's worth a dip even without any surf....
Here's that day, last October. One of the pics, plus the IG post link. Benjamin closest, and Killion farther away. Fun coupla dudes.

Oh, btw. That pic seems pretty high resolution. I do everything with my Android phone. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I can really zoom in close and see details.
Just an observation... 😎
Thats a very nice shot. Especially from a phone. How do you take it out in the water like that? I thought you have a camera with a water housing
