I think the claim is Isaias overperfomed everybody's forecasts here in G-Town.  It was posta be like 4ft.  It was 4ft explosions on the dang inside sandbar.  It was way bigger outside on the 3rd one and beyond.   I didn't see 13sec on anyone's bingo card. 😲

Wishin everyone a speedy recovery over around Pensacola.  I know people there.  🙏

It's back to normal life now.  Yesterday down the road in Surfside.  Looks like it was bigger up here.  Kinda rare.  Fun coupla days.  I'm still tired.   😎🤙

I think TGSA has, had a contest this weekend at Surfside.  Isaias swell for that was kinda handy.  Les Freese footage.  Not sure where the Coyote went to. 😎🤙

Surfside is the next town south of Galveston Island.  Les has been postin Texas surf vids forever.  He's from near Surfside.

It was so dang good here, y'all.  I wish I had better evidence.  You almost couldn't miss waves.  Sometimes you mighta been in a spot where you WISHED you didn't catch that one.  I got munched quite ROYALLY a coupla times.  Do a few flips in the whitewater before you escape.

Yesterday was a 6-er.  How many toe touch, then stand ups, water pours out your nose.  I got six on my way in to go home yesterday.  Maybe 5½.  The 6th one was kinda just a few drips.  😎🤙

eyes wide open next week for what's brewing in the southeast. It's kicking up this wknd for us in Charleston, pretty much a cold front to start and then a front south that'll move on in. Some reports of windows this wknd going into next week to score

@unfurled Nice. Just looked into this. Yup, swell building Friday night into the weekend. Wind looking awful at this point, so hopefully it will lay down or reposition itself. Either way, there will be some size and some waves. Fingers crossed for some cleanup....

This weekend is homecoming. My 15 year old daughter is going. She started at the public high school this year for the first time, so this is her first big deal...

At any rate, Game is Friday night. A handful of girls are getting ready for the game at my house, then going, then coming back to my house for the night. The football field is right through the woods behind my house. Walking distance. I can hear the calls on my back patio during games...

Then Saturday, it's the "HoCo" as the kids call it, dance. So, same deal. Girls wake up at my house Saturday morning. I spend like $100 at starbucks, get them all sorted out, then it's nail appointments and tanning salons all over the island, then back to my house to get ready, then the dance, then all the girls back at my house for the night...

So, at any rate, my wife has been like: The house is going to be infested with teenage girls the entire weekend, so you need to take our son out of here, and the two of you need to avoid this house as much as possible this weekend, unless you want to get pulled into the mix of 6 teen girls getting ready for dances and pictures and shit...

Yeah, no thanks... Due to Unfurled's swell update, it looks like the boy and I will be on the beach surfing and fishing all weekend, regardless of conditions...

My in-laws work for the town, I might hit them up and see if I can get clearence to pitch a tent. I am dead ass on that. Me and the boy will post up the old 12 man pop up tent at Burkes Beach, and live the weekend as wave slaying kings!

Let's fucking go... Now, wind. Please cooperate.

I’ll probably be in Jersey the next 10-11 days. Been here a week now and it’s hard to fit everything in that we want to do. Visit my mom 100 miles down the road. Great Adventure fright fest with my buddy and his family, as well as haunted house/maybe pumpkin patch with them.

Hoping for some more good swell here. Probably gonna be hard to top Monday. I’m sore from both days. Between how intense Monday was, combined with lack of conditioning and rust because it’s been a while.

I'm just over here ruminatin over how rare it was for our little coast to actually score real surf for a contest, unfurled.  It's usually like... reschedule twice... spot checks are like the music from Good, Bad, and the Ugly movie... oo-WEE oo-WEE oooo... WAH. WAH. WAAAAH... tumbleweeds and shit.

Or they end up seein who can find a miracle in thigh high 6sec.

This was quite possibly the swell of the year.  They SOOO fuckin scored.  Y'all know I'm not a contest follower, but this was pretty dang sweet.  😎🤙

Yeah man. And IBC, I see that you chimed in on an AI/Bot post. It took me a moment to figure out how or why that happened. I get a handful of bot posts per week, but 100% of them have been flagged automatically. Immediate creation of fake account, then immediate post with bullshit.

This last bot, for whatever reason, wrote/spoke like an actual human, so it didn't set off any red flags within the default security protocols.

I will keep an eye on that moving forward, and if it happens again, I will mess with the security settings.

But yeah, that was the first BOT post that slipped through.

Normally, I am the only one that can see the Ukranian Bot posting "Check us out on the dark web" links and what not....

Anyway, I had to delete your reply along with the whole thread, FYI.

Yeah IBC, I know there are random contests here, but I have yet to see one. A local buddy of mine, Ryan. He is in his mid-30s. I surf him him a handful of times per year. He is a "pro" as it were. Competed in the Men's regional tournaments. Took second place in the whole southeast last year, and he one the men's longboard comp a couple of months back....

At any rate, all of the contests he surfs are in Florida or up in Charleston. The only "Local" spots that I have heard of them surfing for contests around here are down on Tybee. Only like 3 nautical miles south of me, but a 45 minute drive over land.... But their tides don't work the same as ours, so they have much larger swell windows throughout any calendar day. I.E. Rideable surf a few hours prior to and following high tide, where our window can be a total of 2 hours per day....

So, I know you guys suffer an even worse fate, so if I was planning a surf contest on Hilton Head Island or in Texas for that matter, I would do it like this:

Fall Tier 2 Surf Competition, 2027
- Location: Galveston Pleasure Pier, Texas.

- Event Window: June 15th 2027 - November 14th, 2027

- Event Time, TBD....

And I know, it's hard to plan for shit like that, but it is what it is....

Small wave hunting and big wave hunting are kind of the same. The XXL Swell contest lasts the entire season. So, guys can't just say "We are going to hold the 2027 big wave challenge at Jaws on January 15th" or whatever... Same for a surf contest in Texas. You just have to wait around, and just a few days before swell comes, you gotta mobilize and get it done....

Put that on paper and submit it to the town of Galveston.

Not sure what the swell windows are for local am-comps, but on the WSL even, they leave upwards of a 2 week window at some spots to score, but they are at these spots in a premiere swell window for that region, at that point in the year, so it's almost impossible for them to get skunked....

Here on Hilton Head Island, you could have planned ONE surf contest to run this hurricane season. Just one. The window is the entire season. So, if that were the case, we would still be waiting with only 30 days left...

We are currently, exactly 4 months into this hypothetical "swell window" and if I was running a contest, I would not have made the call yet. Last weekend's one day, 2 hours window of chest high semi-clean shit, just isn't worth it just yet.

And the way it's looking, we may have to double the 2027 purse and call the event off for the entire year.

Haha, Zach.  #TBD

I know you're way more involved in big event organizin than I ever was.  I hadn't thought about it from the TGSA people's perspective much til we started this.  Them people I'm sure got their fair share of past doosey stories.  I've seen pics of airs in knee high.

Can you IMAGINE what them folks musta been sayin Saturday mornin, sippin some coffee, when there was HH+ sets comin in who knows how far outside...  Log crew WAY tf out there.

Quiet voices... Yeah, BUDDY.  Git-R-Done.  It's like all the planets lined up for em.  😎🤙

Oh yeah, Zach.  I figgered that was some kinda bot that snuck through.  My immediate first brain image when it asked what I was interested in was Coneheads Gnarfle the Garthok.  That oughta send him off somewhere fun.  😏

social algorithms are all talking up Sunday and onwards. Reports of Carolinas on down to the tip of the wee wee in Florida getting double leash, head hi+ week. Find those spots that can take it if your not local, park one car and one car there...Getting exciting. Took next Friday off in anticipation of a kayaking/camping trip, but if that wknd becomes a windy/VAS problem then it sounds like an extra day for me to attack whatever surf windows i can get. Def getting the feels of "hurricane" season now in a month into the goods
