It's a mess out there, and it's 2 weeks out, but hey, there could be a few days of juice all along the east coast towards months end.... Lotta time between now and then, and I have seen this kind of prospect a handful of times so far this year. All have fizzled out and not come to fruition.

I admit to not payin attention to the East Coast lately.  I mentioned we got 3s in my forecast.  My brain decides to peek at The Belmar.  Hope Mr Belmar is well.   Looks like somethin's tryna happen over yonder soon.  😏

Yeah, I am always watching more of the SE area, but within that same window, TTB has some interesting possibilities looming. Like, a SUPER big wave/storm popping up on the tail of the one up in the mid-atlantic, then pressing right into the SE coast for a few days. Could be fun. Could be VAS. Could not happen at all. Everything is on the table in this bullshit year of 2026. about 10 days out.

And sorry for being negative nancy over here, but why is it that yesterday, this orange blob was 1,000 miles to the SW, and today, it's up inching closer to fucking Ireland... You can't make shit shit up... Man....

I am saying it right now. We aren't going to see a hurricane in September..... Hopefully i just reverse cursed us there, but I have ZERO warm and fuzzies about the rest of this year.

I don't recall an El-Nino of this magnitude since I moved here, and with windshear and water temps being uncooperative and on the way down and out, I just don't see it.

I will also not be shocked if we don't see a landfall anywhere on the Atlantic side this year....

is it just a cold front sending head hi waves later this week down to FL? If i wasn't outta town this past wknd, would be inclined for a strike mission south. Think we'll get a chance at it here in Charleston as soon as Wednesday. Hopefully enough of sumtin here so i won't be completely jelly all wknd. Gas prices suck mnow

@unfurled Yeah, Thursday - Sunday in SC look somewhat promising, albeit with a steep North angle to it, so I am not sure how much refraction/wrap we will see swinging into the Carolinas.

That said, it is looking like head high+ with light-medium onshores/sideshores the whole time. There is no wind cleanup in sight, but the wind Friday-Sunday looks onshore and in the 7-12MPH range, so it should be textured but workable.

This upcoming weekend's tides also work out, as we will see 8am-10am high tides through the weekend.

Anyway, not the juice on typically looks forward to this time of year, but at this point, we should just take what we can get.

Also, hello "Fay"... So while, you decided to show your face 10 days after setting the record for the weakest hurricane season in Atlantic history.... And you are damn near in England, working your way in the wrong direction. Thanks for nothing Fay.

Oh, and I misspoke yesterday. Fay was just a TS with a name, so as of 9/22, we still have yet to see a cain in the Atlantic.... Still waiting on the ol' 150 year storm. "He's not coming back"....

Here comes the hurricane that ain't a hurricane.  Rootin for someone to find some gems in there somewhere.  Maybe Outer Banks goes off with some bodacious offshores.  😎🤞

I saw Surf Captain had somewhere in Mass last night with the Laird scale activated.  3OH, 4OH added.  I forgot to screenshot it.  Don't see one today.  Everyone stay safe.  Could be a paddle fest in spots. 😎🤙

Yeah, have fun up in the mid-atlantic buoys. OBX-NS should be going off. The rest of us in the SE will have to wait and see what kind of swell window opens up and how much diffraction will occur as the swell passes over the Buxton/OBX tip. With the inland curvature and the lower "armpit" of the SE, it's too hard to tell what kind of size and conditions we will see. What I do KNOW, is regardless of what size we get, we are so far away from this system that we will not receive any kind winds or cleanup.

So, from southern NC to Florida, it will be a "take what we can get"... Obviously, everything south of Amelia Island will open back up and receive more swell. Maybe I can sneak a weekend trip down to my buddy's house in JAX... We shall see.

Still. No. Fucking. Hurricanes.

@zach619 Friday afternoon should go offshore, winds die down. Should be enough juice for that evening hi tide. Already told my buddy prior to that Friday time frame, to plan on river drifting the next couple mornings. One car up to put in, the other bout a mile down to pop out. Unfortunately we're not getting that 6-8 ft forecast in FL. Even Miami should be getting some shoulder hi stuff out of it

@unfurled Nice move. We don't have that luxury down here. All "public"beaches that have parking not in front of a mansion are about a mile apart, so there is no clean/reasonable way to do the transfers. So we just have to drift as far as the river mouth, get out and walk. Or if it's a North Drift and you float past the Westin, you know it's time to get out and get TF back down south.

But as far as this swell goes, I hope you are correct in the Friday thing. I will have a board in tow that day to hit after work if there is any juice and it's semi-clean.

But as of this morning, wind forecasts changes a bit and it appears that Sunday morning, it's "trying" to pull a touch offshore, but until that morning, I see nothing but strong winds coming straight out of the north. Not VAS, but blowout city it looks like....

And I am not sure about Folly, but Hilton Head Island (most of it, and my beach) aim at a ESE angle, not straight east. So our "ture offshores" are WNW... I will take straight W wind anyday and it acts as offshore, but due to our slight south facing coastline, the wind from the NNW is going to be "semi-offshore" if you call it that....

Again, hope you are correct, but I am not getting a chubby yet looking at Friday.

Yew! Finally some swell coming!!! Friday will be very windy from the N / NE, so we'll be at the Jetty, "taking what we can get", which SHOULD actually be pretty dang fun, I have done it many times and it just works there when everywhere else is complete kaka and not worth the effort, so I expect some wind and bump but I expect to get some nuggets too. Saturday, wind will lighten up some but still from the North, so I'll probably be at the Canaveral sandbar if it isn't too mixed up, to get some more size than the Jetty, but either way Saturday looks FUN, solid too. Sunday wind should be good / decent most spots so I will have more freedom to roam aboot the 321, but with higher tide early, chances are I'll be in the Northern zone rather than South, but If I work in a double header I could do South later in the day, but we'll see how that shakes out. Monday looks like we'll still have swell and decent winds, after that is kind of a crapshoot to predict, but I see things getting good finally, we paid our dues, the ocean will abide.

Mid Atlantic is getting CRUSHED with wind and swell by this coastal low just sitting and spinning 200 miles offshore. Local Buoys reading 13 feet at 13 seconds with onshore winds gusting to 50 mi.  3 day Oceans Calling concert with 55,000 tickets sold in Ocean City Maryland just got cancelled.

The concert was supposed to start today.  This is the venue with storm surge pushing right through the stage where Dave Matthews, Hootie, Mumford and Sons, 311, Matchbox 20....would have been playing

Damn Mitch. That is wild. We were actually discussing going up to that show a bunch of months ago. I saw someone posting photos yesterday of the setup on the beach. I was wondering how that would play out... That sucks.
