how do you add a thread/topic into the forum? thought i did it but it's not showing up. Got something to get off my chest
Also, don't know how to edit my profile pic. Not too worried about that but would be nice to know
I assume my view is a little different because of all the admin stuff, but here is what the doc says:
- Log into your website and navigate to your forum profile page.
- Click on the "Account" or "Edit Profile" tab on your profile.
- Scroll to the Avatar / Picture section.
- Upload or select your new image, then click Save
If you click on "My Profile" at the top, you can change the background banner too. There is a little image box on the bottom right that does that. But let me know if that works for you. On second thought, if I see that your profile image changes, I guess it worked.
gotcha, kinda weird the topic doesn't show up when looking at the forum page. When i look up recent posts, I can see it
nevermind, just needed to get out of East Coast forum page. Go straight to Standard Forum
yeah, this is a crazy work week, but I should have some time this weekend to upgrade to the pro version of the forum and that should give us some more customization with easier video/photo posts. You can only post one image per post right now and little stuff like that and I had to hack the code on my own to trick it into embedding photos and videos into the posts. Work in progress, but we will get it there.
Note: I will try and tone down the ads. They came out pretty hot and intrusive. They aren't show porn or titties yet, but I didn't think it was going to be floating pop-ups and shit. I turned adsense back on a few weeks ago after having it de-activated for years, but it took almost a month for google to manually check the site and approve it, and this was their "AI" setup. I don't mind the shit built into the pages, but the floating shit is a bit much. Stay tuned.
Thanks Zach, appreciate that, and good luck keeping Adsense from blocking the ads from appearing at some point, after too many infractions lol, they hate freedom of speech and it was always a pain with the previous forum, and why the "Juicy Ads" became a secondary ad when Google was being too heavy handed. I hated using the Juicy Ads, but I figured titties for the boys was better than nothing at all. 🤣. I wasn't interested in moderating you guys and taking down posts or being the word police so that's how that happened. Your site though, do as you will.
@dawnpatrol321 Yeah, we shall see. I never even thought of the "content" issues with the ad interactions. I was also surprised that it took google almost a month, and they used a real human before investigating. To this point, I have seen pleasant ads about fishing, some credit card nonsense. I have been using adsense for like 20+ years, so back in the day, you had to insert all the code yourself. Now, you just click a button that says "Would you like out AI to insert your ads"? Uh, okay, I guess.
We shall see.
I don't want to sensor anything or anyone, as I don't really care, but it might be one of those things like on facebook and social media where people have to say "unalive" instead of dead, or say "sh0t" instead of "shot".... Not sure.

It is also worth noting that the mega-forums, like surfer magazine and surfing magazine shut their shit down because people kept saying crazy political shit, and I suppose that doesn't jive with their ads and sponsors.

@ibc I thought I had approved that thread, because I could see it. I didn't realize it was locked until yesterday. He threw out a slew of other stuff at first that I let stay blocked and asked him to play nicely. I think we can all get our points across without saying shit that is so wild that the AI bots immediately flag it.... It has to be pretty bad for that to happen, and it was =)
